BBC2 have commissioned Tiger Aspect to produce a new sitcom starring Simon Amstell. The 6 x 30′ comedy series called Grandma’s House is written by Simon Amstell and Dan Swimer who have previously worked together on PopWorld and Never Mind The Buzzcocks.
Grandma’s House tells the story of an Essex family and their relationship with their famous son. Inspired by Simon Amstell’s own life, each episode covers one of his weekly visits to see his family at his Grandma’s house. Here the family congregate every week to bicker, fight and squabble in the way that only families can.
The ensemble cast includes Linda Bassett as Grandma (Larkrise to Candleford, Sense and Sensibility), Geoffrey Hutchings (Benidorm, Sunshine) as Grandpa, Rebecca Front (Nighty Night, The Day Today) as Mum and Sam Spiro(Cor Blimey) as Auntie Liz.
The show will be scripted edited by Jeremy Dyson, produced by Ben Cavey and executive produced by Sophie Clarke-Jervoise.
