A Seaside Parish: Series 1
The Rev Christine Musser and her American husband arrived in the seaside resort of Boscastle at the start of the year. As well as looking after the spiritual needs of an ever-changing population, Christine has to care for seven Norman churches in six scattered parishes and reconcile the traditional views of some of her congregation with the need to attract younger people.
The old church way of life, on which these parishes have flourished for hundreds of years, is struggling to survive. Christine has only two children among her regular congregation and sometimes she is greeted by a near empty church on a Sunday morning. But some people in these deeply traditional communities are unsure that a divorced, re-married woman, with only two years of experience as a priest, is the right person for the job.
