Synopsis

As the 1920s draw to a close, series 5 sees the world thrown into turmoil by the financial crash of 1929. Michael Gray (Finn Cole), Polly’s son, was in New York looking after the business’s finances and unfortunately ignored Tommy’s instructions pull their money and investments, and so returns to England with his new American wife Gina (Anya Taylor-Joy) to plead his case.

Meanwhile Tommy Shelby is now MP for Birmingham South and unable to shake off his criminal past, he is soon pulled into the darker machinations of the British establishment, where he is forced into business with the most unscrupulous character he has yet encountered. No less unsettling to Shelby is his sense that someone within his own organisation could be trying to unseat him.

With a new decade about to dawn, Shelby foresees a dark future both for the Peaky Blinders and for the country as a whole. In both cases, it seems that the devil is deep inside the walls.
